So I have just received and read the report that Councillors were meant to get on the Hillary Trail event at their Parks Recreation and Heritage Forum Meeting last week. They didn’t get to see it because it was declined a few days before the meeting by a couple of councillors on their own.
I’m really puzzled cause here are the recommendations of that report:
i) That the proposed event application be granted approval for 2013, with the event capped at 500 competitors and limits placed on the Arataki to Muriwai option at 132 participants, and the Piha to Muriwai option at 193 participants.
ii) That the event be subject to biosecurity recommendations for kauri dieback protection as outlined in attachment D together with a monitoring programme to determine any adverse impacts from the event.
iii) That the event not be publicly notified due to the considerable consultation already undertaken.
hmmmm how does that mean decline?
We’ll keep plugging away and hopefully still make this event happen!
