Last Saturday was my ‘Beast run’ day. I wanted to give my legs a real workout, and get out in the heat for an extended period.
I think I achieved that with a 5:30ish loop from Lone Kauri Rd carpark via Zion Hill, Muir, Gibbons, Omanawanui, Puriri Ridge, Walker Ridge and back via Odlins.
It was a gorgeous day with awesome views, but seriously hot. That final slog up the stairs from the stream was like climbing the north face of the Eiger, but we got there in the end.
I also managed to pull off a fairly classy dive roll going down Zion Hill (talking too much), so a good day all round!
