Hi everyone – just a quick update regarding the event, after I received an update from Council.
The submissions closed and they have evaluated them all (17) and from these have identified that Kauri dieback was the main issue. So they have asked the Council Biosecurity team to prepare a report on the impact an event would have and stocktake the kauri that are on the intended route. This is a bit gutting, because it’s expected to take 2-3 weeks to compile the report, so it will be too late for the August Parks Recreation & Heritage Forum Meeting. This means it will now be discussed at the September meeting and a recommendation reported to the October meeting for the Regional Development & Operations Committee, who can make the decision.
Unfortunately this is a delay of a month, on what I was expecting but that’s okay – still workable and we’re sticking with the 6th April 2013 date.
